"A real teenage wasteland"

Films: Night of the Comet (1984)

Alias: Various

Type: Mutant

Location: Civilized area

Height/Weight: That of average humans.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: The last time people gazed at a cosmic event near Earth, it blinded most and mutated the local plant life. Now, it's enough to kill most of us. And the ones who died were the lucky ones...

History: One day, a comet of a magnitude not seen since the K-Pg extinction passed by Earth. It left behind a great red mist that killed most of the Earth's population. Those who remain are the ones who stayed inside at the moment, and the people still dying from the mist, who have been reduced to mindless zombies.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: Although not dealt with outright, the zombies presumably perish when the mist is washed out by rain, ending the pandemic.

Powers/Abilities: None

Weakness: Will inevitably be reduced to dust by the comet-borne disease.

Scariness Factor: 3-It sucks that most of the humans around are crazy flesh-eaters because of a comet. However, their effectiveness is somewhat diminished by the fact that they have time limits on them, metaphorically speaking.

Trivia: -This film was also known as "Teenage Mutant Horror Comet Zombies".

-This film's female protagonists presumably were the inspiration for the character of Buffy the vampire slayer.
